General Characteristics of CP Titanium Grade 2
CP titanium Grade 2 offers excellent corrosion resistance, superior formability and strength between grades 1 and 3. It’s a widely used grade that offers a yield strength of 275MPa (40ksi) minimum.

Heat Treatment of CP Titanium Grade 2
- Anneal
- Hold at 1103° to 1400F (595° to 760°C) for two hours
- Air cool
- Stress relive by holding at 1004° to 1103°F (540° to 595°C) for 15 to 30 minutes
- Air cool
- Intermediate and final annealing in inert gas or vacuum
- Perform final heat treatments in vacuum

Machinability of CP Titanium Grade 2
- Comparable to austenitic stainless steel
- Low speed, heavy feed rate and abundant cutting fluid
- Employ safety measures because titanium chips are extremely combustible
Workability of CP Titanium Grade 2
- Hot roll, forge and hot press
- Initial roughing at 86° to 122°F (30° to 50°C) higher than beta transus
- Finish from 1499° to 1652°F (815° to 900°C)
- Bend, stretch, head, stamp and draw at room temperature
- Fix springback variance by hot sizing
