Aerospace Industry Forged Parts

Parts for planes, rockets, missiles, and other aerospace use require full traceability, proven quality, and soundness  Full traceability must be from foundry to end use.  Quality means AMS specification chemistry, mechanical properties, and any required heat treatment.  Soundness requires actual ultrasonic test results, not merely a ‘capable of’ statement. Specifications like ASTM A388, MIL-STD-2154, AMS-STD-2154E, SAE-AMS-STD-2154 or ASTM-E2375 govern ultrasonic testing for this industry.

Any part failure can result in catastrophe. Therefore, an emphasis on end use of the part in its operating environment is vital to selecting the proper material specification.  In addition, buying from AMFG means getting original equipment parts with no risk of counterfeit parts, or parts with unsuitable chemistry or mechanical properties in aluminum, titanium, alloy steel, stainless (including the duplex and pH grades), or carbon steel.

All Metals & Forge Group takes great pride in maintaining one of the most stringent ISO9001, AS9100 quality systems in the open die forging and seamless rolled ring industry.  It begins with understanding the customer’s design and application, required grade of material and alloy, forging ratio, surface condition, mechanical properties, forged shape, direction of grain flow, heat treatment, delivery time and location (we can deliver globally to your door), and competitive price, coupled with forging soundness proven by ultrasonic testing, and care in packing protecting goods to arrive in pristine condition at the customer’s desired location.  Every step is monitored and continuously improved through AMFG’s quality system.

AMFG forges near-net shapes to ensure that metal grain flow follows the final part’s geometry as closely as possible. This significantly enhances mechanical strength and endurance. Compared to parts machined from simple stock shapes, which disrupt and cut grain flow, our custom-forged components provide extended service life and reduced risk of failure.

AMFG strives to supply the highest quality parts either rough machined or finish machined.

For rough-machined parts, AMFG machines most parts to within 1/8” or 3mm of finish dimensions to reduce CNC cost at the customer’s machine shop.  Our standard rough machined surface condition is 250 RMS ensuring proper non-destructive testing (NDT) – such as Ultrasonic testing (UT) and Magnetic Particle testing (MT) – can be effectively performed on each part, All parts undergo UT testing 2-3 times before delivery. – this is the AMFG standard.

AMFG also provides finish machining according to customer specifications. We operate five-axis machining centers, precision grinding machines, and EDM precision cutting, enabling finish machining to within .001 inches (0.025 mm) for final tolerances and achieving 64 or 32 RMS (1.6 – 0.8 Ra) surface finish on suitable shapes.

This level of quality and precision is unique in an industry competitors often deliver parts black (as-forged) or with a rough-machined surface of 500 RMS, lacking the internal and external refinements needed to ensure quality or reduce machining costs.

From inquiry to invoice, All Metals & Forge Group quality is managed and not assumed. Whether the need is for a single part, an entire project, a small or rush production run, or a long-term mass production project, AMFG delivers.
