Forged Bars

Forged Bars

Forged bars tend to be harder, stronger, and more durable than cast metal forms or machined parts. The reason why, is simple: pressure alone forms the steel into the right shape, and the metal’s response to such overwhelming force tends to align the grain. That means you get more cogent internal structure and a far greater ability to withstand warping and wearing.

Forged Bar Shapes

There are actually four general variations of a forged bar which include: round bars, square bars, flat bars and hex bars. We have the forging capabilities to produce bars from the following alloy types:

Alloy Steel – Carbon Steel – Stainless Steel – Titanium – Nickel – Aluminum

FORGED BAR CAPABILITIES

The maximum length for forged round bars and hex bars is 420 inches in carbon steel, alloy steel and tool steel with a maximum weight of 80,000 pounds, 220 inches in stainless steel with a maximum weight of 80,000 pounds, 220 inches in the nickel and super alloys with a maximum weight of 20,000 pounds, 220 inches in aluminum with a maximum weight of 10,000 pounds and 144 inches in titanium with a maximum weight of 10,000 pounds.

The maximum length for flat bars and square bars is 220 inches in carbon steel, alloy steel and tool steel with a maximum weight of 60,000 pounds, 27 inches in the nickel and super alloys with a maximum weight of 15,000 pounds, 60 inches in aluminum with a maximum weight of 10,000 pounds and 65 inches in titanium with a maximum weight of 15,000 pounds.

Blocks are essentially flat forged shapes that fall into these same dimensional ranges.  Blocks can be square or rectangular.
